The Alkek Library Government Information Collection is a selective depository library including a variety of federal and state documents on many topics and produced in various formats. The documents collection is available to Texas State University researchers, as well as the local community, as guaranteed by public law (Title 44 United States Code).

Government Information includes a K-12 (TCMC) collection of state-adopted textbooks, a die-cut machine, and a guided reader collection. For more information, please check Government Information's K-12 Education guide.

The Government Information unit provides printing of USGS Topographic Maps for Texas State University students, faculty, and staff. Map requests are filled within 24 hours. Assistance is also available for locating maps in hard copy. Several series of maps are housed in the collection.
