Interlibrary Loan is restricted to CURRENTLY enrolled students, faculty, and staff at Texas State University. If you are not currently affiliated with the university, please contact your nearest public library for interlibrary loan services.
Since ILL assists researchers in obtaining copies of items that the Alkek Library does *not* own, you'll need to use these tools to determine which items are already here at the Alkek Library:
Library catalog
Locate book, serial, periodicals in print format, and a/v titles in the Library.
A notice is sent to patrons with overdue ILL material. If the item is not returned within one week from the date of the notice, the patron's ILL privileges are suspended and a hold is placed on the patron's circulation record. Until the material is returned, or paid for, the patron is unable to check-out materials from the Alkek Library, register for classes, or obtain a transcript. The patron is responsible for all charges assesed by the lending library. Having excessive incidences of overdue items will result in the permanent revocation of Interlibrary Loan privileges.
As the central check out point for the library, the circulation desk is staffed all hours the library is open and it is a more centralized location. Interlibrary Loan staff work Monday through Friday from 8a.m. to 5p.m. but may be temporarily unavailable while performing work duties.
The Interlibrary Loan staff is available for consultation between the hours of 8am and 5pm Monday through Friday. You can set up an appointment or ask for assistance at either the Circulation or Reference desk while you are at the library and someone from Interlibrary Loan, if available, will meet with you. You can always contact Interlibrary Loan directly by calling 512-245-4893.
Renewals are done by logging in to your ILLiad account. Please remember that renewal requests MUST be done at lease three (3) days before the due date. There is only one renewal request per item allowed.
Material housed in the Wittliff Collections cannot be requested through Interlibrary Loan. It can be accessed by visiting the Wittliff Collections on the seventh floor of the Alkek Library.
We do not recommend requesting textbooks. If you do request your textbooks, please be aware that if we are able to get them, you MUST RETURN THEM BY THE DUE DATE. We do not set the due date. It is set by the lending library. You can request one renewal (if allowed by the lending library).
The Faculty Article Delivery Service (FADS) is a service offered to current faculty. All FADS requests are submitted through your ILLiad account.
