How do I find a book or video?

Use the library catalog to search for materials owned by the library.

How do I find journal articles on a topic?

Use the databases to search for articles in journals, magazines, newspapers and other publications.  Databases are arranged by subjects and by types.

Where is the computer lab in the library?

The computer lab is located on the 4th floor. The hours are generally the same as the library, but the computer lab does close 15 minutes earlier to allow time for closing procedures.

Where can I find a map of Alkek Library (call numbers, service desks, rooms)?

You can pick up a library directory on the second floor in the reference area. Or, you can view more detailed maps here.

How do I log into databases and e-journals from off campus?

To access the databases and e-journals from off campus you need to enter your Texas State Net ID and password. More information can be found under the Computer Access navigational link on the library home page or by clicking this link.

Where can I find course reserves?

You can search the library catalog for hard copy reserves such as books, kits, videos, etc. 

Sometimes professors use e-reserves for book chapters, articles and other materials. To access the electronic reserves, you will need a password given to you by your professor.
