What are Databases and Indexes?
Indexes
- Come in print format
- Cover various subjects
- Can look up articles by subject
- Provide the article citation (more on citations here)
- Once you have collected citations, you can work on locating the articles with the citation information provided
- Some indexes cover specific subject areas
- The newest editions of indexes are usually softcover pamphlet type books
Databases
- Are online versions of indexes
- Because they are online, they often have more features
- "Full-Text" means the article is linked electronically so you can access the article immediately
- Databases resemble search engines and you can use some of the same search behavior.
