E-Book/E-Text Collections

The Library subscribes to approximately 200,000 electronic books/e-texts in many subjects. Most are available in large collections which can be searched through the publisher's interface. Many e-books are also searchable within the Library Catalog. Just click on the "View Online" link provided in the catalog record to access the book.

Electronic encyclopedias, dictionaries, style manuals and other reference e-books are listed on the e-Books database page.

Google Books
Google's book search engine. Use the Advanced Search to specify words in title, author, date or publisher.   Access to the full-text is limited. However, classic books in the public domain (published before 1923) can be fully downloaded.

Gutenberg-e

Turning The Pages
The British Library digitised some of their most valuable works, such as the first atlas of Europe, the Diamond Sutra hailed as the “oldest printed book,” and the original Alice’s Adventures Under Ground by Lewis Carroll. A browser-based application enables the reader to leaf through the books, making the illusion of reading a book online more real.
