Alkek Library has study areas located on each floor of the library. We offer a variety of different study environments to accomodate student needs.
The 5th and 6th floors of Alkek library are the designated quiet floors. Quiet is enforced on these floors.
Study rooms 512, 514, and 516 (located on the 5th floor) can be reserved in 2 hour blocks during the hours the library is open. You can reserve them using this link:http://reservation.library.txstate.edu
All other group study rooms are located on floors 5 and 6, on each side of the floor. Non-reservable group study rooms are first come, first served, and come equipped with a chair, tables, and a chalkboard, and are enclosed in a separate room for privacy. These rooms are ideal for study sessions or group work situations that involve discussion.
Located on floors 5, 6, and 7, located around the perimeter of the floor. Each have a desk, chair, and locker. A limited number of these carrels are lockable and can be assigned for up to 2 semesters to graduate or Honors undergraduate students. Ask at the Circulation desk for more information.
These are located along the wall and free standing throughout the floor; they are open but have dividers for privacy. These types of carrels are also found on floors 5, 6, and 7.
Study tables are located throughout the library, on floors 2-7. These are the most basic type of study accomodation. For an atmosphere of enforced silence, please go to the Quiet floor located on the 6th floor.
