Study Areas

Alkek Library has study areas located on each floor of the library. We offer a variety of different study environments to accomodate student needs.

Quiet Floor

The 6th floor of Alkek library is the designated quiet floor. Quiet is enforced on this floor.

Group study rooms are located on floors 5 and 6, on each side of the floor. Group study rooms come equipped with a chair, tables, and a chalkboard, and are enclosed in a separate room for privacy. They are available on a first come, first served basis. Special reservations are not required. These rooms are ideal for study sessions or group work situations that involve discussion.




 

Study Carrels

Alkek library has two types of study carrels.


individual study rooms and study desksIndividual study rooms

Located on floors 5, 6, and 7, located around the perimeter of the floor. Each have a desk, chair, and locker. A limited number of these carrels are lockable and can be rented. Ask at the Circulation desk for more information.

Study desks

These are located along the wall and free standing throughout the floor that are open but have dividers for more privacy. These types of carrels are also found on floors 5, 6, and 7.



 

 

Study tables

 

Study tables are located throughout the library, on floors 2-7. These are the most basic type of study accomodation. For an atmosphere of enforced silence, please go to the Quiet floor located on the 6th floor.
