Associate Vice President and University Librarian

Joan Heath, Assistant VP, University Library

Joan Heath is the Associate Vice President & University Librarian at Texas State University having served previously at the Albert B. Alkek Library as University Librarian and Head Acquisitions Librarian.  Ms. Heath also worked previously at the Sterling B. Evans Library at Texas A&M University.  She earned a BA in Journalism and a MLS (Masters in Library Science) from the University of Michigan.


Ms. Heath has held numerous positions in local, state and national library associations including the San Marcos Public Library Board, the TexShare Advisory Board, the OCLC Global Council, the Texas Library Association Board, and the Texas Digital Library.


Ms. Heath is responsible for the administration of the University Library including The Wittliff Collections and a satellite library at the Texas State Round Rock Campus.  The University Library advances the teaching and research mission of the University and supports students, faculty, and other researchers by providing user-centered services, comprehensive and diverse collections, individual and collaborative learning environments, and opportunities to learn, create, and discover.  In FY14 the library was managed by a staff of 131 with library expenditures exceeding 20 million.
