A Texas Cow Boy, or Fifteen Years on the Hurricane Deck of a Spanish Pony (1885), the first autobiography by an actual cowboy, was, in Will Rogers' words, the "Cowboy's Bible" an honest, unpretentious story full of unruly horses, stampeding cattle, boisterous cowhands, bad men, and long trail drives.
