Deposit and Preserve Data at Texas State University

All faculty, staff, and students at Texas State University have the responsibility for effectively managing and protecting University Information in their care, in accordance with university policies. This is so that we:

  • Protect University Information from theft, security breaches, or data losses
  • Ensure continuity of university operations
  • Meet requirements of federal and provincial regulations and policies

Texas Data Repository (TDR)

It is an open access research data management (RDM) system, hosted on Dataverse platform by Harvard University. It offers researchers from the member institutions a trusted repository to deposit, share, manage, and publish their research datasets. Researchers can also find and cite data across all research fields. Texas Data Repository helps users: 

  • To ensure reliable, managed access for data: researchers control levels of access and track data versions with long term preservation
  • To comply with funding requirements: help you comply with funder mandates data archiving and sharing
  • To collaborate with others: it allows you to share your data with a select group of colleagues, version your data, and publish it when you’re ready.
  • To increase scholarly impact: each dataset is minted a Digital Object Identifier (DOI) making it easy for citing reliably and for you to receive credit
  • Open access: free to use for TXST researchers and open-access data is made available to everyone worldwide

Texas State University Dataverse Repository

As a member institution of TDR, the TXST Dataverse Repository is an open access data management system for researchers affiliated with Texas State University. This repository can play an important role in fulfilling Data Management Plan requirements by funding agencies, such as NSF and NIH, and provide for data re-use, archiving, sharing, and publish.

Citing Data

  • The recommended format for data citation is:

Creator (PublicationYear). Title. Publisher. Identifier

  • Including information about two optional properties, Version and ResourceType (as appropriate) may also be desirable. e.g.:
